Falls Prevention Forum - 12 PM PT / 1 PM MT / 2 PM CT / 3 PM ET
This forum will bring together members of the Village-to-Village Network to engage in a facilitated discussion focused on:
- Learning from fall prevention efforts undertaken by Villages, including successes and lessons learned.
- Discussing the opportunities and challenges associated with implementing fall prevention programs.
- Exploring whether and how fall prevention could serve as a strategic focus for Villages in advancing healthy and safe aging within their communities.
Falls are the leading cause of both fatal and non-fatal injuries among adults aged 65 and older in the United States, with 1 in 4 (approximately 14 million) older adults experiencing a fall each year. Preventing falls is a critical component of healthy and safe aging and is influenced by a wide range of social determinants of health.
Fall prevention is a priority for the National Council on Aging, and several evidence-based programs have been developed and implemented nationwide to reduce fall risk and support older adults in maintaining independence and well-being.
Through shared experiences and dialogue, participants will identify practical insights and potential pathways to strengthen fall prevention efforts across the network.
