The data from the 2025 National Census of Villages are currently “in the box” and being analyzed. I want to again thank Dr. Emily Greenfield, Natalie Pope, and team at the Rutgers School of Social Work’s Hub for Aging Collaboration, who have led the census in close partnership with the Network. The survey was filled out by 88% of Villages across 37 states (including Washington, D.C.). My thanks to the many Villages that took the time to fill out the survey and the many Village leaders at the local and regional level that helped garner this extraordinary level of participation. It is a sign that the Village Movement is alive and well and anxious to grow and plan.
The Rutgers Hub and VtVN want to get the information from this important effort out to Villages as soon as possible. Updates will be posted on the https://www.villagesresearch.org. website. You can go directly to the project page for the Census by clicking 2025 Census of Villages .
Unlocking the valuable information in this important benchmark effort will take time and additional input from Villages. Toward that purpose, we invite all Villages to attend a webinar on Wednesday, May 13, at 2 pm ET at which the “top line” information from the Census will be presented and discussion and planning will begin in earnest.
