About this event
Thursday, August 13, 10am PT/11am MT/12noon CT/1pm ET
Virtual programming has become one of the most scalable, low-cost ways to reduce loneliness and keep older adults engaged—no matter where they live. Join us as we welcome special guest Michael Pressman from Mather, who will share what Mather has learned in building free virtual programs at Mather (53,000+ program hours across 189 programs) and how those models can extend the reach of Villages without straining local budgets or volunteer capacity. We’ll look at what makes virtual programs work for older adults and where they can complement the in-person strengths of our Village model. Mather has had success implementing programs with in-person gatherings for people to watch and engage together—and they’ve tracked audience expansion. Come to join this conversation to see if there are partnership opportunities here to strengthen our village offerings.
Perhaps we can center August’s conversation on how Villages can support members before, during, and after hospitalization. This can be a big time commitment for villages and takes a lot of resources. It also is so important and something we know we are going to face with our members. We can discuss how we might have vulnerable members who are more prone to hospitalizations and what happens when a low-need member becomes a high-need member because of unexpected hospitalization.
